I think I liked Sunglasses when I was 13, but now I'm like, ew. Never got into Billy Ocean (philanthropy and vegetarianism notwithstanding). Sunglasses maybe gets the 80s-er nod for the combo of both bad 80s guitar AND bad 80s synth. It tried harder than any other song to be an 80s #1 hit. And it failed.

What an excellent and amusing description of this song! I truly look forward to your comments and opinions, Deni! I am definitely humiliated from admitting that I don't hate this song, but here we are!

Hey, we all have stuff that we are humiliated to admit we like. There would be some serious red-faced admission on my part if you guys had included Jack Wagner's "All I Need" in this competition.

What can I say? I'm a sucker for song titles with (many and sometimes unnecesary) phatenthesis! Go Billy!

You and I share this parentheticophila(?) And I really do love it. But the sunglasses were just too much for Billy's coolness to overcome here.

No strong feeling for either of these - and this time, I'm voting before I hear your cases, because time's a-wasting. Corey gets my vote because Ray-Bans, I guess?

Don't switch the blade on the guy in shades, John. Don't you do it!

I really like both of these but Billy Ocean's tune is a little jazzier for me so it's got my vote. And I'm with Janet Gbur.... The lyrics are also better.

All the way, bro! Well, OK, probably not all the way. But into the next round, maybe! :D

Corey's video is SO ridiculous, and yet, I'm still not entirely sure what's happening in it.

I am surprised Brian has not come on to antagonize you yet--does this mean he agrees with you? hahaha!

Idol was borderline hitmaking legend in the 80s, but I think we have ruled on him, and he WILL likely appear on Side B!
