This was fucking impossible. In the end, though, I went with the one that still gives me chills. Take On Me.

Man, this one is tough (I realize I'm saying this after voting against Take on Me twice, which I feel really really bad about). One song with the most iconic music video of the 80s, the other connected to one of the most iconic teen movies of the 80s.

Personal experience-wise these were both really special for me. I own multiple records by both of these bands, and each of these songs was the one that introduced me to them.

Each have very 80s elements. Simple Minds takes the 80s drums, but A-Ha with the 80s synth...

Though, the 12" version of Don't You (Forget About Me) does push more synth sound up front and more of a dance beat.

I'm going to go with Take on Me. But it's super close, there is an argument to be made for both. And I never tire of either. If they come on the radio I'm cranking it up no matter what.

This one was so, so difficult for me, but it seems we feel quite similarly about these songs. I love "Don't You (Forget About Me)," but don't know the 12" version, so I am going to go listen right now. --Keith

Both songs are amazing and would be worthy winners of this whole thing. I voted for A-ha simply because I remember listening to it with my friends a lot during the 80s, when we tried to reach that falsetto, with disastrous results!

😂 I love picturing you going for the high note and not quite making it, because half a world away, I was doing the same thing!! Music unites us! --Keith

Tough call. Something to consider -- can you find a way to provide a link to each of the songs for easier comparison?
