I'm so glad you dropped this episode right before I boarded my plane to fly home from Japan. Gave me something to start listening to as we took off. If only you could have made this episode about ten hours long.

This is almost like a Crush on You vs. Melt With You situation for me. Cult of Personality feels more 80s to me but I think I'd lose all respect for myself if I voted against Don't Dream It's Over. (Also I shared how I feel about Cult of Personality and a how he-shall-who-not-be-named ruined it for me.)

And thanks for invoking the name of Crush on You again! 😁 --K

This was tough for me for enjoying them both, too. If Cult had pulled an easier first-round target, I think it could have maybe made more of a game of it. --K

I always thought there was a comma involved in the name of the song: "Don´t dream, it´s over"! How dare those New Zealanders tell us not to dream! 😂 Anyways, I´m voting for them since it's a super popular song and quite 80s, though is far from being my favourite. On a side note, keep your super energy intact you guys, no matter what happens next tuesday! Can´t wait to find out who made it to the singers region (Could Milli Vanilli be in there? Or the real Milli Vanilli?)

I love how just one punctuation mark can darken optimism into despair! 😂

And thank you, Alejandro, we will do our best on Tuesday.

Now I can guarantee you that the "real" Milli Vanilli is NOT in the region! 🤣

I love, love both of these songs! Cult of Personality is one of my all-time favorite songs. But, I have to go with Don't Dream It's Over because it's just so much more 80's.

I should apologize to listeners for the little disruption at the end of the podcast. My kid was making pan de muerto and knocked on the door to ask if he had an appropriate amount of orange zest.

I should apologize to anyone who eats the bread if the amount of orange zest is radically off; I gave him a thumbs up without really looking closely.

Crowded House is one of my absolute favorite bands. Have all their records, have seen their shows and Neil Finn solo. I am one who knew the Satriani trivia, I've shared that many times over the years, impressing, well, nobody. I still think it's cool.

Look up the producer Mitchell Froom, he produced the first three albums. His producing credits are epic. His list goes Crowded House to Bangles to Randy Newman to Indigo Girls to Richard Thompson to Los Lobos to Pearl Jam to Suzanne Vega (who he used to be married to) and so many others. He's a genius producer.

Weird coincidence, the United flight I'm on right now played More Than Words while boarding in Tokyo. I shit you not.

I've seen Living Colour twice, and it was in the same year. They played my college of all places. Western Hall, essentially a big gym, in Macomb IL in spring of 1991 and then I saw them at Lollapalooza that summer. They were an epic live band. I was only a casual fan but seeing them live, especially in the small venue at my college, was exhilarating. Urban Dance Squad opened (they were kind of big for a hot minute) and we're equally fantastic.

I've got like almost 8 more hours of flight time left to LAX to leave more comments.
