I'd say this is a tough one. Lisa Lisa is very 80s, I recognize pretty much all of her songs even if when I hear them in a store or something I can't remember who it is. And doesn't that video make you think it could have been the opening credits to an 80s show like A Different World?
But Robert Palmer was definitely a huge 80s rock guy. I also would not have put this song out at the same time as Sweet Child O' Mine, I would have guessed it was like three years before Guns and Roses. Maybe because I group all his stuff together from the first time I remember him at all, when I was about 15. I honestly thought Simply Irresistible and Addicted to Love were on the same album.
But Lisa Lisa is so happy dappy 80s and cute.
Speaking of boy bands... it dawned on me that you have no New Kids on the Block on here. Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating for them, having to listen to them would have made hot flames shoot out of my ears ten times worse than the Tiffany/Gibson episode. I'm just surprised given how annoyingly popular they were.
I guess. I only really think of them in the 80s because once I got to college I never had to hear the crap that I had to while still living in the suburban hellscape around all the terrible people. So I really only know the one song (something Tough? Right Stuff? I really can't remember the title, but it was annoying as shit).
Of course I don't know hat bracket they would go in anyway. They don't play instruments, so they're not a band. The studio filters/computers did all the singing....
I think that stuff may have existed in ‘89, but I didn’t really hear about it until the 90s? In my experience, boy bands are more ‘90s in concept. —Keith
Head to Toe is ok, I guess. Meh. But very 80's. I love Robert Palmer, so I voted for Addicted to Love, but it is really more of a Legends bracket kind of thing.
I had totally forgotten about All Cried Out. That one might be a little too melodramatic even for me.
Oh, for fuck's sake. His videos are tame. You want offensive? Go watch VanHalen's Hot for Teacher again. Talk about sexist. I'm a woman and his videos don't bother me. I think you're being a little much with this stuff. A little cleavage and you guys are clutching your pearls. lol
Heart attack at age 54? Probably too much cocaine.
Michelle Shocked parodied his videos back in the day (1989) with her video for On The Greener Side, having a bunch of beefcakes dancing behind her, she said to specifically point out the sexism. (Of course, years later she became problematic herself with some awful homophobic BS)
Can't share the video, she keeps tight control of her music the way Prince did and does not allow it on YouTube.
I wasn´t aware of Mr Palmer's passing! 😅 He and Brian Ferry were super slick and cool (Brian still is!) I'll vote for Simply Irrisistible for a number of reasons - the chorus "there's no telling where the money went" I have no clue what that means, but it sounds good - the video, which I loved as a teen, an also - enough with the drum machine already,! 😂
Hey Joe -- I snuck out of Cleveland for a weekend of curling at the Granite Curling Club. Good group, fun times. Nothing 80s-est about it though; I had no idea what curling was in the 80s. (But I did have dinner in the rotating restaurant at the top of the Space Needle in the late 70s. (Sadly, or maybe not, it is no more.))

I guess I think of NKOTB as more 90s? I remember them at their zenith when I was ignoring them in college. But also, fuck those guys.

Well, we didn't have a "Random Crap" bracket.

Meg-Meter?? Lol. I love it.

That was essentially Palmer’s argument: “You think this is bad? Check out Van Halen!” 😂
Head to toe, all day long! Bernie's injury report card throwback. Haha, and it's more 80s eighties 😜
Believe it or not, I actually completely forgot about that! Hahaha 😂 It’s as good a rationale as any ! —K
John Ritter was also the age we are now when he keeled over. 54 is the new 27.
Dude. I didn't need that reminder this morning.

Note: It's not the TWA terminal, it's the PanAm terminal! Dammit, Wack!
