OK, finding out that Chris de Burgh sues the shit out of people who don't like his music was worth having to hear that sappy drivel again.
Honestly, I forgot these songs even existed. If you had asked me make a list of all the songs I could think of from the 80s I wouldn't have come up with these. Forgettable, both of them.
Interestingly, it reminded me that Billy Vera was an old dude (in his 40s for god's sake!) when he finally had a hit. That's kind of cool to see a guy out there hustling away and finally see some success. I found out he is a Grammy winner...for writing the liner notes to a Ray Charles collection.
Both of these songs are just, meh. They're like plain Jell-o.
Oh, and again...fuck you both for the OMD-Furs round 1 matchup.
1. I've never liked "The Lady in Red." Always seemed kind of creepy to me for some reason.
2. 80's-est or not, "At This Moment" is a far superior song. It's a "gets you in the feels" kind of song. You know...melodramatic. :)
3. Yugo?? Weren't those the cars that couldn't even survive a 10mph crash test?
4. Gotta go with "At This Moment" because who doesn't enjoy good sax?
5. Finally, stop disparaging yourself as a teenager, Joseph Ray Wack. You weren't sappy, you were sweet. Any girl who couldn't see that was a dumb c&^t. Love you, baby bro.
While I appreciate your support, Sis, there is no denying that I was a dateless wonder in high school. It's fine, I got through it, but my lack of game is just a statement of fact.
You guys really took your time to discuss "The lady in red"! I also thought it belonged in the Gene Wilder movie soundtrack. I have many things to say about it: -First of all, yes, "Venado tuerto" translates as "One-eyed deer"!, it´s a very prosperous rural area in central Argentina with lots of cows and soy plantations, really close to Messi's hometown. Chris' father was a british diplomat and owned a lot of land in the area (damn you, brits!) and Chris lived there only for a coumple of years, so as argentinians, we are not to be held responsible for this musical atrocity. -But... for some reason, this was a huge, I mean, HUGE song in Argentina that transcended the 80s. I used to work as a producer in a FM radio station and people requested this song all the time, which made me hate it even more, -At the same time, this memory also influences my vote: how could I not vote for a song that meant so much to so many fellow argentinians? "The lady in red" has my vote, damn it! And Keith, you made my day calling me an asshole, I had to stop the car so I could laugh my ass off!
That's fair. Hey, I started embedding the region playlists into each post, based on your suggestion for an easy way to listen, wanted to see if they work for someone other than me?

Dude, I have seen your Chris DeBurgh concert shirt. You're not fooling anyone.
So much to unpack here...

1. Because it IS creepy!
2. These two are tough to call 80s, so coming up with some way to choose is admirable.
3. Yeah, they were hot garbage. The Jim Belushi of automobiles.
4. I love sax!
5. Nice big sister-ing there, Meg.

P.S. I trusted Joe on "Iko Iko," and well, let's just say, you were right all along. (you'll see)

I have no recollection whatsoever of At This Moment. Sorry, Lady in Red for the "win"

Thanks! --Keith
I needed the abstain option in the 1 v 16, I still haven't voted there.
hahahaha I am sorry to have put you through that choice, Deni!
