I'm stuck at home with the flu, so listening to this episode today has been a really nice surprise! I also used to sing along to "Walk of Life", which was kind of difficult for a non native speaker in the 80s!

I'm going 100% with Whitney on this one. The thing is, she might be surrounded by many dancers, but she wants to dance with somebody who loves her!

I hope you feel better soon! “Walk of Life” is hard to understand as a native english speaker!! I truly didn't know all the lyrics until this week!! Whitney is the way to go, here, for sure!!

I think there is no question that Dance is more 80s than Walk of Life. I much prefer Dire Straits, but there is no doubt that Whitney was a force back then. I don't necessarily dislike Whitney; it is just not my type of music.

Back in 87, I worked at A&W. I had Dance stuck in my head so damn hard that I couldn't help singing it. I'm pretty sure everyone thought I was crazy. To this day, that song makes me smell ice cream and root beer. Whitney was extremely popular back then - I'm pretty sure that "Greatest Love of All" was the soundtrack to every picture show I watched my Sophomore and Junior years in high school.

In the end, I this is what forced me to vote Whitney. If it had been up against Money for Nothing, I would have gone the other way (can you argue that Sting singing "I want my MTV" in the background not one of the most 80s thing ever?). I can only hope the match-ups align so that Whitney gets knocked out in a later round.

DUDE, did you wear roller skates at A&W??? I love this memory!

I think you're falling in line with Joe and me who didn't necessarily listen to her regularly, but we respect what she did.

Haha no roller skates. I was the one who made the floats, sundaes, etc. and worked the drive-through. I can actually smell ice cream shop when I listen to Dance. It is that ingrained in my memory 🙄.

You on skates is a prescription for another serious concussion! 😂

Certain songs DO bring back everything…and the connection of smell with memory can't be denied. One song in particular brings back the apple hair spray of an ex-girlfriend, which is a weird thing to have flash into your head in a grocery store! 😂

The argument for the 80s-ness of Whitney is probably stronger but I voted for the music gods Dire Straits because I'd like to avoid having to hear anymore of the awfulness that is Whitney Houston or I'll want to jam icepicks in my ears.

I get you... I am a much bigger Dire Straits fan than I am a Whitney fan, but it was kind of pleasant hearing Whitney again after so many years. I won't need icepicks unless this song goes all the way to the Final!
