Eddie Money is fine and has his place here; however, it is hard to deny the impact Janet had on music, dance, and video production. Her concerts were masterful performances and you see those influences in artists that followed. I saw her Velvet Rope tour and again this year, other than a little less dancing for her, equally strong vocals. She is truly a legend.

Hard agree. My affection for Eddie is definitely overpowered by Janet's legendary status.

I'll say it loud and clear: I like Eddie Money! I remember hearing and liking this song and "Walk on Water" when they came out. So, based only on my 80s experience, Eddie gets my vote. I don´t think Mónica cares for any of these acts 🤪

I know that JJ is a supernova, but I think that in Argentina, she kind of lived in the shadow of her -in-famous brother. I remember more LaToya than Janet from the 80s! I got to know Janet's music during the early 90, as a radio producer.

Have a great hiatus, you guys! Joe, I´m sure your Shakespeare production will be awesome, and I hope there´ll be some kind of video recording. Keith, have a great trip!

I really do like Eddie Money, but I had to go with JJ. It’s just so 80’s, plus, she was coming into her power separately from her brothers, saying “you can all fuck off, I’ve got this now.” It was awesome to watch. Her voice was nothing special, but the songs were good and the choreography was awesome. She really did help shape the late 80’s and has earned her icon status. “Rhythm Nation” is a far superior song, though. I especially love the Lip Sync Contest version by Joseph Gordon Levitt.

That does remind me, seems that The J. Geils Band/Peter Wolf are missing from this legend bracket. Such a great singer. And Lights Out is awesome.

But the video where he REALLY moved was in Come As You Are. He just jumped through the whole damn thing. (And he appears to be jumping through Pleasantville). I get tired watching him. Also a great song.

Joe, if you still have the video for that lip sync contest you should post it on here! It was great!

I don't think it ever made the conversion from VHS, so it is quite possibly lost to the ages.

I think there is probably a bigger argument for Janet here but I'm voting for Eddie Money anyway because I just fucking hate Janet Jackson and don't want o have to listen to anymore of that garbage or I'll have to jam icepicks in my ears. Good god, how can anyone listen to that shit? I mean, she rapes ears the way her brother...well, you know.

Re: the guessing about Janet Jackson maybe being from Detroit. Um, no. The Jackson's are famously from Gary, Indiana. I think after they signed their record deal moved to California.
