Toid - In response to #1 hits by older solo artists, Cher has had one every decade since the 60s. "DJ Play a Christmas Song" hit #1 on the dance/electronic charts in 2023 - she was 77!

Thanks, Dr. Janet!

I have not heard the Cher Christmas song, but I want to believe it's amazing. So I'll probably avoid listening to it, because I don't want my beliefs to be shattered.

Listening to Cher's 2023 Xmas song now. First impressions: starts autotuned, which I don't understand, since she can hit notes. Must be a stylistic choice of sounding modern.

Getting through the first chorus, and... well, it's fine. Doesn't make me want to gouge my eardrums out. Doesn’t make me want to hear it again. It's OK, maybe forgettable. Unlike "Believe" or "Turn Back Time," which have infectious hooks that my brain is helpless to defeat.

This is great! Sounds like a record Cher will hold…forever? Good to see you on here again, Dr. Janet! --Keith

Ok Joe. Fish Heads is not by Dr Demento, he played the song on his show. It is by Barnes and Barnes, one half of which was the actor Bill Mumy - Will Robinson on Lost in Space.

Deni, thanks for keeping me honest. I apologize the Bill Mumy and Dr. Demento and I regret the distress I am sure my comments caused their families.

I was waiting for this showdown between two queens: Tina and Freddy! I thought I'd vote for Queen, but Tina´s hair and make up in the video are so freakin' 80s that I ended up changing my vote. We'll see what Mónica does.

Queen definitely is legendary, but I guess in this season (almost) every matchup is a final.

Have a great weekend, you guys!

This is the craziest season of all, every matchup feels big. No more Iko Iko, no more Crush on You 😂

By the way, I am sorry that we are talking too fast for Mónica! She should listen at .5 speed!! I also am not completely aware of how many times we use American figures of speech that make no sense to others. Listening internationally is a bit daunting, and we are glad that you choose to keep doing it!

I don’t remember ordering from CRH, but I do remember playing that Queen album A LOT. However, I have to vote for Tina on this one. This is not my favorite Queen song, plus Tina’s comeback was SO 80’s to me. She came roaring back and made the decade hers.

“Who Wants to Live Forever” is one of the best Queen songs. Highlander soundtrack. So good. And Adam Lambert sings it ALMOST as well as Freddie.

And the other ballad on that soundtrack, One Year of Love is another one of my favorites.

I don't know either of these songs, I am going to listen to them both now!

I just listened to both, liked them both, really found "One Year of Love" to be an instant love for me.

Highlander II has the distinction of being the only movie I have ever walked out of. I went there to support a friend who loved the first one...but the sequel must have been awful, because I just got up and left. 😂

But Highlander 2 has an all-time great subtitle in "The Quickening." It long ago passed "Electric Boogaloo" in my esteem.

Oh, yeah. Highlander 2 is pure shit. So, so bad. Worse than Grease 2, if that gives some context.

Great analysis in this one guys! My personal opinion is that Queen >> Tina Turner, however as far as the 80est-ness of the two choices go, What's Love > Another one Bites the Dust.

Freddy Mercury was probably one of the most talented rock vocalists ever, but their sound is at best early 80s, but typically more 70s. Therefore, as much as it pains me to do so, I will vote Tina.

Thanks for two TOUGH choices in a row 😅.

By the way, I saw that Eddy Van Halen poster, and there is no way it was 6 feet tall 😊. It was, however, spectacular!

OK, it was the biggest poster I had ever seen before or since...maybe 4.5-5 feet? it took up a whole wall of our dorm! 😂

There is no denying that it was a huge poster. It's really not about the size of the poster but the way you won it. Absolutely epic!

What happened to it? Too bad it's not still around.

After so many moves, it basically fell apart. Then I moved in with a girl, and it was relegated to storage where it yellowed and went bad. 😢

More modern, but not more famous than Queen: Machine Gun by Sara Bareilles.
